Trust is a memoir of one of America’s unsung community heroes, whose stories are rarely ever told. Rising from being an abused young girl who overcame insurmountable traumas, abuses, and obstacles to become a first generation college graduate with multiple degrees, certifications, and honors, and a warrior Mother who raised 3 Black males in East Oakland, California in the 1990’s and early 2000’s by herself with little to no resources. My mom, Linda W.G raised my brothers and I in the midst of the crime, violence, and degradation in Oakland, and still become a community advocate and leader supporting, encouraging and empowering countless youth and family members to lead positive productive lifestyles. My mom defied the common cliche, "hurt people hurt people", by taking her hurt and repurposing it to help others heal.
