I am a music artist, inspirational speaker and educator among many other talents/skills I possess. I was born and raised in the inner city of Oakland, California with my mother and older brothers. Having a strong family unit was essential for my growth in becoming the man I am today. Living in Oakland showed me the impact that that trauma, violence, poverty and negativity can have on individuals and entire communities. It also provided me with first-hand insight of the resiliency, diligence, struggles and commitment real people overcome in order to RISE above their circumstances. I am fortunate to have RISEN, and I recognize that God, family, community and education were critical components in enabling me to have done so.
I am now a Cosumnes River College and Sacramento State graduate with several degrees; my B.A in Sociology (I walked the stage with Summa Cum Laude honors from CSUS). I have more than 5 years of experience working within youth/teen related programs and several years of experience as a supervisor in the inner city of Sacramento. I have experience with outreach, recruitment and branding as well.
My educational and vocational journey have deep ties into my artistry and music. Music is one of the tools I use to inspire others, particularly youth and my peers. I aspire to show them that living a conscious, healthy, productive and positive lifestyle is "a cool thing". My brand, #StayConsci8us, is all about establishing ways to get conscious and positive messages out; through music, clothing, media, social marketing, teaching and community driven campaigns.
Growing up and making it out of Oakland to attend college has graced me with a inspiring testimony about over-coming the ills and pressures of the inner-city to become a positive example for the community and society as whole .
